  1. In my opinion this presentation is misleading and confusing to the potential driver. It provides many interesting ideas on how to deal with traffic, yet, most of them dangerous and opposite to everything what we learn at the driving school. It is very important to pay attention to what is happening on the road, especially in the rush hour or traffic jam.During the traffic jam most drivers get very anxious and irritated which makes them more vulnerable to loosing control and causing accidents, especially when the person is on the phone or doing make-up.The given examples are good ways to relax but at home, not whilst driving.Being stuck in the traffic in the big city is inevitable. Every driver needs to add few hours to his/her day to possibility of being stuck in the traffic jam. Personally, I try not to get irritated and use the time efficiently. I always have a language CD with me which I play and repeat new words. This activity allows me to learn few more words every day without loosing any time.
Unfortunately, there are more and more cars on the road every day causing traffic congestion and air pollution.
There are ways to help reduce it via carpooling, using public transportation or cycling. Even though, the society relies on cars, each individual should make an effort to minimize it via taking bus one day to work or just walking when the day is nice. Little steps make a big difference.

  2. I agree with s7495, described in this presentation relaxation methods are very interesting and worth it but rather not take advantage of the car's steering wheel. Then you should focus your attention on what is happening around us. Reading a book or watching the film, even in traffic could lead to an accident. I fortunately don't have this problem, because I've been going by public transport. I always listen to music, and if I manage to take the place I read a book or check e-mail and browse the web. Unfortunately avoid traffic jams is probably in our time is impossible. On the streets it is more and more cars, and that is why we have more and more traffic jams. Very accurate solution for people who are on their route to the metro, are parks 'park and ride' next to the subway station, I think it's a little relaxed way. Sure if I will ride the car, I'll use these parking lots, then it saves not only time, which I'm sure I spent in traffic but also saves money, which I spent on petrol, which is unfortunately becoming more expensive.

  3. What else can we do when we are in a traffic jam?
It depends if you are driving. In my opinion if you are behind the whel you shouldn't read a book or surf web. As Paulina said it is to dangerous for you and the others. I use public transport because I don't have a car. I love polish culture at public transport at 7:40. Then the bus or subway contains more peole than it should but no one is complaining, no one is even talking loudly, You can learn, read books like in the library :)

What do you do when you stuck in traffic jam?
I learn, read book, nothing special.

What can we do to congestion does not arise?
One of the option (known from S-F movies) is to create special main frame which would operate every car in the city. I would plan every travel and even drive the car. So this little "god" of traffic would know everything about every trip, so it main role would be not to create jams and get everyone safe to their travel destination.

You could think it is only a dream, someting what can't happen, but... "wait for it" :)

  4. I'm standing in a traffic jam when I listen to mainly listen to music, browse the things that are unnecessary and possibly me that I could throw away later. Often when a very hurry to accompany me on my nerves and I'm looking for every way possible to navigate on how I could get around the cap.
The main cause of congestion is the lack of bridges and overpasses when there is a traffic light by which we must be at a red light and wait. Another cause of traffic jams are the people who can not drive and block the left lane, or those people who have nowhere to go in no hurry and not blocking others.

  5. I also agree with s7495. From what I know it's not allowed to use cell phone while driving. In my opinion almost all of those ways of spending time in a traffic jam are dangerous. I must say, I know nothing about it. I'm not a driver, but if I were one I would listen to the music. You never know if something unexpected will happen, it's a risk not worth taking.

  6. You all are just a bunch of boring conservaties! We all know that most of this activities are not allowed
by the law but i think thah it is better to read than to swear. If you drive 10km/h ot less those activities are not that dangerous so please don't exaggerate.

When it comes to a traffic jam it is a horrible experience for me as I'm highly impatient and become aggresive some time. So, if it's possible I try to take some other way that is longer but without traffic. Of course it is usually impossible to achieve so I try to come up with some creative ideas and a strongly focus on them, that helps a lot!

  7. I do not agree with you s7904. Post written by that person to discriminate against people running cars. Nowhere in the rules of traffic is not written that the left lane is for people who have cars with powerful engines. If a person has to turn it known that he was going to the left lane because they will turn from the right lane to the left. To me it's not about that we have too few bridges, but not enough roads leading out of the big cities, so people who just cruising the big cities are stuck in traffic and block traffic. At the same time I might add that users type s7904, often because they block traffic muscling the so-called third, by such drivers have a lot of accidents, which is also the need to be longer in traffic. It is sad but true: (.

  8. "We all go through classic felling of anxiety, anger and rage, don't worry it is normal behavior."

This is not normal, i always feel sorry for people who act like angry idiots on the streets in their cars :-) i am always stay calm, no matter what situation i see. I heard on the radio, from psychologists that if someone acts angry on the street, and you will act also angry in revenge it's not only a proof for the angry guy, that his driving was good, but also it's a proof for him that the situation was your fault. So calm down everybody, if someone is trying to put his anger on you while driving, smile to him, let him know that you are totally calm down and nothing bad can happen, because you have the control on your car, and the angry guy is the one who acts like a total moron, who drives to fast and not safety. After a while he will realize it. What do i do in a traffic jam? I always listen to some good music and i yell because i would not call it singing :) but, yes this is what i do. Also i read emails, sometimes i answer them and if there is a need i make phone calls. This is nothing special i see, because most of you guys, are doing the same :) ... But come on. Reading a book? that's hardcore. Actually if i was a bookworm... why not :)

  9. Spend about 2-3 hours on the way to work and back, so the car traffic jams are very well known to me. The time spent in trying to use them to relax or work. I like listening to music or preparing what I plan to do for the day. In the moments when I have a big load at work, I try to spend the time to plan the next steps. With this approach, not waste my time on unproductive state in traffic.

  10. I have a driving license, but I feel better riding on a bike, so I do not spend my precious time :) in traffic jams. However it has happened some times that is why I have a solution. My favourite activity was singing or just listening to the radio or others throughout a phone :P Now when I have a smartphone I can also play games, but yet it shoule be loooong traffic jam without any move, as once. I was waiting in a gigantic traffic jam caused by an accident, it was about 2 hours. Then I went forward to check what is going on and during coming back to a car I realized I can use a green grass lane in the middle of a road, ups. Sorry I did it and many after me.
Good idea is unknown words learning, I hope they are not polish words. I just occured to me that my mother often listens english or italian lessons when she is driving, this could be even better for me than learning foreign words, but you have to be prepared for that occasion, it means recordings are always at hand.

  11. When I am stuck in a traffic jam I usually listen to music since I do not have much time for doing this after school or work. Actually I think that traffic jams are sometimes beneficial for us as they give us this time to relax and even if we are always angry while being stuck, we can feel justified for being late which gives us these few minutes of doing ‘nothing’ in the car. However, while standing in the line of the cars, being frustrated that we will be late and we can do nothing with it, sometimes disenables us to have a moment of relax or reading a book. It just precludes the ability to focus on something different than being furious. On the other hand, when someone is focused on studying or reading for example, it might lead to being confused when they have to focus on driving. I assume that lots of people start to do something in their cars while being forced to wait for the other cars to move, and then they want to finish it while going further which means that for example they call friends and do not end the conversation when they have to drive again. Hence, they are casualties of collisions.
