Budget means of transport may be pretty amazing when it comes down to promotions. If you're smart enough you can get yourself a trip around the world in very attractive price. A year ago on a polish site about cheap flights one of the admins made himself such a trip, after a month of planning he successfully booked a trip around the globe using only cheap airlines, buslines and hotels summed up at impressive 3820PLN.
Of course he had some unexpected situations, in result he spend extra 850PLN (mostly to extend his trip) and he had to buy himself some food, which raised the overall costs to 5390PLN. Its still pretty amazing price for such a trip and memories are priceless.
Of course there is a flipside to this coin, just today I've seen a video where a woman was kicked off her flight by RyanAir becuase she had extra baggage (a book and scroll). Even other passengers offered to take those things with them just to let that woman fly but airport security wasn't going to let that happen.
I agree with Łukasz Zalewski. If you are smart enought and have free time in middle of year or week you can travel very cheap. But still for most people such trip is unimaginable. People feel more safely when they pay much, maybe this is because they don't belive in such promotions and seach in them small "star" for which they have to pay much more.
From the other hand you can't belive big travel agency beacuse they they can go bancrupt. In these year we had many examples of such sad situation... http://biznes.onet.pl/tysiace-polakow-uwiezionych-za-granica-bankructwo-,18490,5178991,news-detal
The only advice which I could give to people which want to travel is to have money reserve "just in case" and don't trust everything you read.
Nowdays traveling is much easier comparing to how it was before. You can forget about packing a family of four plus luggage to Fiat 126 P and travelling for two days to reach destination like Hungary for example. You can get pretty much anywhere in Europe in few hours and it won't cost you a fortune. The low-budget airlines constantly offer promotions and try to win new customers lowering prices and competing against each other. Yet,is it really so cheap? As usual the promotional price does not include any extra, hence,by the time you finish booking, your 5 zloty ticket becomes few hundred. Also,as stated by classmates, often the special prices carry further restrictions including dates and hours of flying. To summarize I do believe that travelling is much easier and less expensive now comparing to even few years ago. Nonetheless,in order for you to travel cheap, you have to be very flexible with your schedule and be open -minded to any changes or restrictions.
Cheap buses and flights are very popular among young people. Finally they have an opportunity to get to know new places and cultures without emptying their wallets. I have to say, that my experience in cheap travelling has grown significantly. I’ve already been in Stockholm - 70pln charges both ways, London - 150pln and Amstedam (I can’t remember the price, but also really cheap). Next year I’m plannig to go to Berlin with PolskiBus. In view of the fact that I don’t have to pay for hotel room, because I use couchsurfing, the whole journey cost me as much as my winter shoes :). Although I can’t complain about PolskiBus, there is one huge problem with cheap flights. Low cost airlines always land at the airport far away from your destination, so you have to take a bus or train to get there. subsequently you’ll pay more than you’ve planned.
Cheap flights or other transport is a great opportunity to discover the world. I agree with Karolina that is a great thing for young people like us. While everyone can see the price is fascinating to me is how we open a perspective on travel. Our trips can be more spontaneous, to have life in himself more. The resignation of the long-delayed money more frequent trips to somewhere just like that. This is a step forward in the development of ourselves. Journeying new places new people, we become better. I have friends who travel through Europe in this way, and always meeting them is exciting because they have a lot of trivia and history to tell. Maybe I'm overreacting and idealizes but in my opinion it is a way for develop myself and great think to fight with the monotony of life. Have repeatedly used the offer of the Polski bus. I can not say a bad word about them. It's a great thing to travel with them because I order tickets over the Internet and does not take me much time while not absorb so much money.
I think that cheap means of transportation are very popular these days. Thanks to companies like WizzAir and RyanAir, it is possible to travel much cheaper than when using airlines such as Lot. As we all know, students don't have a lot of money, but still just like everyone else - they'd like to travel all over the world and visit other countries. We'd like to visit as many places as possible, but at the same time we'd like to pay as little as possible. Also, I don't think that we should criticize the fact that airports are built far away from the city centres, it's just business and it's clearly a lot less cheaper.
First of all, I think that flight tickets at that low price are not as available as it might appear. Of course, there is always a chance to catch a cheap airplane to a distant place but does it really mean that it is a good idea to consider journeys abroad as something which does not demand a lot of money? I do not think so. I many cases it happens like that- someone wants to fly to Rome and finds a ticket for 1 zł. All right, that is an occasion but what about the return? I just want to underline that it is not always that simple to find two-ways ticket at a low price. However, even if there is such a ticket, it is usually the only one or one of the few which means you cannot go with anyone else. If so, there is no point in buying it as you can share your happiness with no one. On the other hand, since there are more and more such occasions, why not to enjoy it? Journeys abroad enrich our understanding of the world, give us an opportunity of learning new foreign languages or just enable us to have a rest. Anyway, I would like to say that- yes, there is sometimes a chance to find a cheap ticket abroad or to another city but commuting IN a city always poses a problem. Inner-city transport tickets usually cost a lot, especially in capitals such as London, Rome or Paris. So what is the point in enjoying a cheap flight while we have to spend money on commuting between the airport and e.g. a restaurant in the center of the city? Concluding, my opinion is that there are obviously some possibilities to profit from a cheap transport to a distant place but it means that the thing which can be treated as cheap is the ticket, not the journey.
For me the best way to travel is hitchhiking. It has a lot of pros. The most important one is that you meet a lot of local people and learn local culture. You meet people which you wouldn't meet travelling other way.
It's also the cheapest way, you don't spend money on tickets, fuel or anything and sometimes you can even get some food from drivers.
I've spent a lot of time hitchhiking around the Poland and Europe, I've met a lot of wonderful people and spent great time.
This way of traveling was very popular in the PRL times but now it's dying. I have a few friends who are still hitchhiking, especially because it's often faster way than public transport (in huge distances like Warszawa - Gdansk).
My nicest memory was trip to Gdansk with old men who was in Auschwitz and told us a story about War and concentration camp. It was really huge experience for me.
The worst one was waiting over 3h for someone who would take me and walk over 15km.
One problem is that you can't make plans about time when you get to destination because sometimes it could be really quick (like my travel with policeman who drove over 160km/h in city) and sometimes it could take you ages.
The next one - if you're a girl sometimes it could be dangerous for you to travel alone. I hadn't heard about some dangerous situations from my friends - girls who hitchhike alone, but you need to be aware of them.
In my opinion if I have time there is no better way to travel than hitchhike.
According to me this is a much better option than space travel tourism, because it is definitely much cheaper and can take advantage of this virtually anyone who has set aside some cash for the holidays, and there is no special requirements when it comes to health. Personally, I was flying with Ryanair and the prices are really competitive but it is evident that they are low-cost airlines. Support for these lines leaves a lot to be desired, there are no snacks served during the flight, if you want to eat you have to pay extra of course, but to fly to the designated place at a low price I recommend these lines.
I still don't have right thoughts on these kind business. What is the main profit for these kind of organizations? You can't tell it's they money from sold tickets. There is no magic, just a clear math. You can't take 90% less money than your opponents and prosper. There must be something hidden, something behind. The second bottom and i feel it in my bones. I had thoughts on Amber Gold and their OLT express, because i've made a research and i knew much earlier before the whole crime thing came out to light, that the familly of founders were involved into corruption and their past life was very unclear. I would like to know really, what magic stands behind these organizations :-) I haven't got much time to search if given prices are real, and what are the rules, but if this is not a dream, i wil definitely, be a loyal customer, especially for those airline carriers!
I love travels, although only successful ones. If I were a customer of the travel agency which has bankrupted I would be angry because of the holiday time and money loss, nerves and helplessness. I agree with Natalia we have to be suspicious of private people who arrange our vacation for us. When we organize our free time for ourself we are not dependent on others. That is why I prefer to visit new places on my own.
At the begining of last August I decided to see the capital of our west neighbours so called Berlin :) I started to realize my trip four hours before, therfore ticets were not so cheap. I used Estonian bus lines Simple Express having comfortable fleet of coaches equiped with airconditionig, seat belts, Wi Fi, snacks included and, what is the best for me, a little touch screens located in front of every passangers full of movies, music (rather main stream or rock music), simple games and internet . Addictionaly, I could take also my bike in the ticket price. What was great! Everything for 75 PLN, but if I had bought the ticket as one of the first five people, it would have cost 12 PLN! Unfortunately that quoted low prices (12PLN) are avaliable when the ticket is bought a long time before go. Not everything is so colorful as advertisements say :/ I have toured Berlin on a bike and I haven't spent a lot of money there. I had only to pay for accommodation on a campsite what means that trip was absolutely inexpensive. Also a good way is traveling by car. You need only a few friends and an economical car or more friends and big delivery van :) Three years ago traveling in such a way I toured Bulgaria and Romania. Some of us have slept in the car, others in a tent, but always in the wild. We cooked by ourselves and that trip was really low budget. If you would like to visit many european countries in a short and active way I can recommend train and so called InterPail Global Pass (http://www.interrailnet.com/interrail-passes/interrail-global-pass).
From this four carriers only Polski Bus don't have one way tickets more expensive than 100 zł, so it is cheaper than InterCity trains. As we know petrol is more expensive and more dirty than electricity so why it is so profitable? I think it's because of the huge demand which is caused by low cost of journey and very exclusive coaches even with leather seats. So it means that if you offer high quality at low price you will earn more than your neighbour who's selling low quality with high price. Ryanair & Wizz Air in my opinion are cheaper airlines, but not the cheapest, because of course they have tickets for 1 PLN but only few for each flights and your luggage is not included (in Wizz Air if you have hand luggage you should pay 10 euro extra) also airport fees are not included so it isn't so cheap as you think.
Tenders which propose transportation company owners are actually very beneficial, but unfortunately mostly for people who have very much free time and searching for interesting connections not restricted terms. This is a subject close to me, just because I was searching for low-cost connections to Paris, I wanted to visit a friend who will be there until mid-December. I managed to find a cheap flight to and from the 58zl, but when I wanted to book it, I counted 60zl for additional transaction fee plus 15zl insurance and even a fee for the transfer 58zl in total 191zl, also it is not so much, looking at normal prices, but unfortunately, because of this I had to give up. Now I know that you can find flights for a very favorable price, but once you take into account all the added amount. If it comes to offer Polish Bus I really recommend it, can you find a connection for a really good price and in addition we have provided a large comfortable journey. Modlin Airport also it got a great deal, thanks Modlin Bus, this is a much cheaper option for people that load at that airport, bus stops at convenient locations for connecting with the metro and the city center.
This kind of business is an artificial one as there is no possibility to make profit from such a price.
That is why we hear every several months that there was a bankruptcy of a cheap type company. The only reason why the ticket could be so cheap is when the ticket is not sold. For example is better to sell 1 last ticket for 100PLN rather than not sell it at all.
I only believe in one miracle which is resurrection of Jesus and there is no place for almostfree tickets
