Week 8: MH 370 MYSTERY

Probably most of you must have heard about the Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, so called

MH 370. The plane took off from Kuala Lumpur on 8th of March 2014 and its destination

airport was Beijing in China. However, after less than an hour from the take-off air traffic

control lost contact with the aircraft and it has never reached the capital of China. There

were 227 passengers from 14 nations and 12 crew members on board.

The plane has just vanished from the radars. For several days, nobody was able to track its

position after loss of contact. Search was being conducted chaotically, in totally different

areas, which suggested that the plane might have changed its supposed route. Finally,

it was established that MH 370 fell into the Indian Ocean, a few thousand miles west to

Australia. But why did the aircraft change direction and turn back? Was it deliberately

diverted by someone? What exactly happened on board?

There have been several hypotheses. It turned out that two Iranian passengers were

travelling on forged passports what rose suspicions that they might have had links with

terrorism. But after investigation conducted by Interpol this possibility has been ruled out.

They were friends and they were just trying to run away from Iran. One of the Iranians

was travelling on a stolen Australian passport to reach Germany to reunite with his deadly

sick mother. There were also doubts raised by finding a flight simulator at home of one

of the pilots. Allegedly he was also having marital problems and his daughter told the

press that “He wasn't the father I knew. He seemed disturbed and lost in a world of his

own." However, his wife didn’t believe in his suicide and denied all the accusations. What

is more, examining the flight simulation did not bring evidence nor pointed out dubious

activities.

Until now, the MH 370 mystery still has not been resolved. Although the conducted search

is the biggest one in history, still the wreckage has not been located. The most promising

lead are ultrasonic signals from the plane’s black box flight recorders, which have been

detected by Australian and Chinese vessels on 5-8 th of April.

What is your opinion about the MH 370 flight? Was the plain hijacked? Will wreckage be

eventually found? Why did the plane change direction?

  1. Either something really wrong happened between the people aboard (pilots were drugged, someone tried to hijack a plane, chaos began), or the machine itself was faulty. It's hard to say right now. I personally don't believe they will find the plane - Ocean is so huge and so many people have seen the sattelite pictures already that if it was in one piece, it would be found...
I don't believe any hijack theories saying that the plane and people are somewhere used for the good of radicals. It seems like too much.

  2. This is very interesting topic. Maybe because we don't know many facts about this flight.
I heard many controversial stories like gold on board, what for me is too much science fiction, because i would be the best italian job. If this is true for sure we will see movie leaning on that story :)
I don't comprehend how it is possible to lose so big airplane in XXI century. There's so many technologies that we use everyday in communication, i don't understand how they can lose it from radar for few hours. In my opinion pilots know what was going on before they stop to communicate with flight control.

  3. I am not familiar with flight catastrophes but I do like conspiracy theories. They were kidnapped by aliens! To be true I think they crashed in middle of nowhere where no signals could be send or received.

  4. What is your opinion about the MH 370 flight?
It will change the way the Black Boxes work.
    Was the plain hijacked?
Why for? Ransom? well it didn't work out quite well for them I guess. They wanted to move resources (gold/diamonds/etc) - great move! Make a plane disappear and kill 200+ people. Yeah I don't see it. faulty plane? Sure. You wouldn't believe how old is the technology behind flights in general.
    Will wreckage be eventually found?
Naah, they gonna give up soon. Unless there is something valuable for someone in there.
Why did the plane change direction?
Think about it. If we knew exactly where the plane went, why can't we find it? like I've said, the technology is so old it's funny how it all works. But the machines are faulty... Hence this.

  5. @alt_plt I there was facebook like on this blog I would give to you for the conspiracy theory with allien abduction.

@PrzemekM I think I agree with that pilots must have planned it earlier and I suspect suicide all terrorist attack.

  6. What is your opinion about the MH 370 flight?
I think that people who like mystery and conspiracy theories are really happy about new topic.

Was the plain hijacked? Will wreckage be eventually found?
I don't think that if it fell into ocean then we can forget about it already. Even if it will be found it won't happen quickly.

Why did the plane change direction?
Maybe technical problems, computer said it was the good direction, and pilot just went with it. Maybe someone really hijacked the plane, although it's hard to believe as no one contacted with demands. It's hard to come up with definite solution to this question.

  7. It was quite shocking for me that they couldn't locate the plane. It made me realised that we - humans are not so powerful after all and we should not forget about the power of nature. I have no idea what could had happened. It may have been a quarrel beetwen staff or hijacking. But there was to reason for it. Or maybe the machine have broken….It is really mysterious for me...

  8. What is your opinion about the MH 370 flight?
It is teryfing that with such technology like GPS, cameras and radars we can't find plane with 200+ people oboard! I was sure that such situations would never happen. I'm also little disapointed.. google by my phone knows where exactly I'm and prodecits where I will be in next 20 min with 80% acuracy and cannot find 200+ people?

Was the plain hijacked? Will wreckage be eventually found? Why did the plane change direction?
I hope soon, we will see, but conspiracy theory will never die. The UFO, Goverment, Hackers - always there will be someone to blame, even if they will find evidence for simple planes faliture.

  9. I’ve heard about a rumour that there was gold at the board of MH 370 and someone kidnapped the plane for it. I don’t think it’s true. In my opinion too many conspiracy theories were made, because it’s hard to develop an opinion based only on some conjectures.
I fell very sorry for the families who lost their beloved. It is just horrible. The fact that they still don’t know what really happened makes it even more horrible. I hope we will find out eventually and the families will find peace.

P.S. I think you should change your text layout of your presentation, because it’s really hard to read.

  10. I think this is another thing the media can feed on. Another unexplained and sensational subject
Don't think the plane was hijacked, what for? Yes, there are rumours about gold on board, but it's hard to believe that someone would put inside one plane both gold and ordinary passangers together.
The wreckage maybe will be found someday but I think not in the nearest future.
The change of plane's direction is in my opinion the most curious thing about this mystery. Don't have any idea what could've been the cause it. Maybe UFO affected pilots' minds?.. ;)
