Week 4: Cat vs Dog

Cat vs Dog
People have always had a   companion. From the prehistory when they had a half wild wolf,   horses. They did it to survive. Now this has changed. Pets are with people because people want to have one. They want someone who will always be on their side.

There are usually 2 kinds of people, those who want cats and dogs. The nature of why people prefer cats or dogs is a topic that has been getting increased research in recent years. Why people choose a certain companion depends on a few factors.
Parents with young children generally have energetic little dogs kids can play with outside, and teach children the responsibility. Single people or older people prefer to have more lazy cats. Also many young people choose to have a cat, because it brings less problems.
Here u can read more about it in professional articules about dog and cat personality, and their humans.
But not always. Some days ago I meet in a subway an old woman with a big dog.
Scientists believe that our choices about animal can say a lot about us. Those who prefer dogs are more extroverted, more agreeable and more conscientious. And these who choice cat are mote creative and care less about tradicion.

I don't know what to think about it. A dog looks more friendly, but cats have that something.
Cats do what they want. If people do something they don't want, they show it, in opposite, dogs are always loyal, and docile.
  • This is a really funny movie, when a cat much smaller than a dog ignores it. The dog does not   know what to do.
My dream is to have big Maine coon, they are one of the biggest cats. I want to have it to warm me up in winter, to have someone to cheer you up.
And you? are you more cat or dog people? Do u have any animal?

  1. Maybe I'm unusual, but I like both of them. I have my personal theory: there is an individual percentage of feline and canine features in every cat or dog! For example, my cousin's French Bulldog usually acts like a cat, ignoring everyone's calls and exploring open areas just like cats do. In comparison, my cat is absolutely dog-like - he follows me everywhere, gives me hand when I command him to and even agrees to walk on a leash.

Unfortunately, as I really like and admire dogs, they don't share the same love to me. The lovable ones ignore me, and those which are more distant tend to be aggresive towards me. That's why I'm more of a cat person. However, I'm treating animals a little bit like humans - I really believe that there are smarter and more stupid amongst them, I don't like them all the same way. I dislike some cats and dogs while love other ones, but I can understand that their acting is mostly the fault of owners who raised them.

Besides, me and my husband are so devoted to our kitten that we made him his own fanpage. Check it out here:

Also, I have a perfectly logical explanation why our cat needs a fanpage. Absolutely every cat owner thinks that his/her pet is somehow special. There's even a comic strip about this in popular "Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal" series:

    That sums it up :)

  2. When I was little, I couldn't have any animal, because of my mothers and older sisters alergies. So I have no idea how to behave around them. I mean animals, not my sister or mother....
I'm always affraid that I'm going to kick them accidentaly, or hurt them in some other way. For example, when I wen't for a slumber party at my best-friends house, I barely slept, because of her cat- he was sleeping with us on a bad and I was affraid that I was going to crush it. Same thing with a dog of my pranets-in-law... although i did crush him accidentaly, and he did respond... he bit me :(
Still I would love to have both. I think it would bring some kind of a harmony. My house is very small, so for a moment we won't adopt any kind of an animal. But when we'll move... I preper my husband already for ahving a ZOO :)

  3. There is only one true answer to that question...DOGS. Dogs are the best. They are human best friend, as we all tend to say. Dog will never let you down, it will always be by your side and love you till the end. Cats on the other hand, are simply mean creatures. I can put up with only one cat, my friend Sonia's, but Ricola(that's the name of this cat) acts a lot like a dog so that is probably why i like her so much.
I have two dogs and I simly cannot live without them, they are an important part of the family. But there is a simple explanation of my point of view, at least I think so... I had a dog since a was a little girl and I was always surrounded by the dogs. What is more my granny had two cats and when I was at her place they had scratched me very often. Ugh..
So I love dogs, always have and always will plus the video of these two guys is hilarious!:)

  4. Just like Martyna, I like both of them. And this comes from a person allergic to both.

I think both of them have their positives and negatives. Have you ever spent your precious time watching those funny cat videos on the internet? ;-) Yeah, cats are awesome. They have their moments, when they randomly do really cool things. But, people seem to think they are ungrateful and independent, and don't care about their owner.

Dogs, however seem to be more emotional towards their owner. They really can feel like one's friend.
Of course you have to take them for those walks, they need more time and resources to maintain, but they seem to reward those by looking happy and seem to "love" their owner.

I feel like this picture illustrates this particular difference ;-)

But, at the same time who could hate that?

  5. To be honest I don't really know what to think about this post. I don't believe that our preference about animals depends on our character. There are different types of the exact kind of animal, each one has its own personality - not always dependent on the breed. Just like humans - the character is not the reflection of the age. It's not said that in elderly age we somehow decide to throw away our dog and buy a cat. It's not a pattern we follow. It's just an individual choice. Personally, I would chose both, cats and dogs, I admire them equally. And here lies my question: What about people who own both cats and dogs? Is there personality somehow mixed up??

  6. I liked the "Cat-Friend vs. Dog Friend" video very much! All of this is true!

I’ve seen this picture of a dog and a cat. The dog says –“my owner feeds me, hugs and pets me, takes care of me. He must be God! The cat says – “my owner feeds me, hugs and pets me, takes care of me. I must be God!”

I grew up in a house, where we had both cats and dogs. That’s why I love both, and I couldn’t live without a pet! A house without them seems sad and empty to me. I own a dog and she always greets me when I come home. This is great, because the house is never empty. I’d like to adopt a cat, but my dog wouldn’t let me

  7. I prefer dogs. In my opinion they are really our friends.Up to this day in my life always were pets. More often they were dogs. I loved them because they attached to us. When they don't see us a some time, they are so happy and they want to be so close. This is what attracts me in them.
I think cats are more mercenary pets. They come to us when they want something. Of course this are my feelings and everybody can have own one.
If you say that, you treat animals like humans. Thesis that opposites attract may be applicable in this theory

  8. If I would like to get a pet and only possible choices would be cat and dog I would choose dog. Reason is simple, I have allergy for fur of the cat. Considering that problem when I spend everyday 16h outside home the only reasonable answer is no pets at all. Long time ago I had a parrot but it escaped, maybe I'm not good person to take care about any home animals

  9. I guess I’m both… Like it was mentioned cats are different and dogs are different, it really depends on the mood and the persons free time. I personally don’t have any animals at home, however once I have a family I would definitely like to have an animal as they bring so much joy to the house. Cats are more mellow and relaxed and are probably great animals for those that don’t like to go out of the house for a walk and live a fast life. On the other hand you have dogs which seem like they have more energy and make you go out for a walk as they are more interactive. I definitely want to have one in the future 

  10. Based on my own experiences i prefer dogs for couple of reasons. They dont stink as much. :) They are true friend of their masters, they are faithful and if they could, they would do everything to defend their master. This is called dog love. Anyone think that cat is capable of similar behaviour ? Cats go where they pleased, if they owner dies they have no problem when taken by other one. Cats are more territorial. They go where they pleased, they can disappear for long period of time because their territory is not only the house they live in. Dog on the other hand are lished to person. If I change the house my dog will have no problem with that because he will see his place wherever I go. Dogs are very smart if learned and talked to. And this is actually pretty amazing how many things you can learn your dog if you really work with him. Yes work ! Because dog is capable of learning a lot, but often this opportunity is wasted by their owners. And when it happen dogs may look like they are not so smart as we would expect. But this is normal. If you don't send your kids to school... and you won't teach them things that they should learn... They won't be as smart as those kids that went to school. Anyway the last dog I had died few years ago. He was about 13 years Old and he was the smartest dog I ever had :) He was treated as part of the family and he felt this way. I could say many interesting stories about him but I think that I said enough about CAT vs DOG topic. (Ps.I also had cat so I have competence to compare them based on my own experience)
