Week 2-The job market in Spain

The second presentation that I would like you to read and comment on is the one recently prepared by my Spanish Erasmus student Elena http://uwb2m-s.blogspot.com/2013/03/the-job-market-in-spain.html
I hope Poles will stop complaining and be grateful that they do live in Poland not e.g. in Spain;)

  1. The problem of unemployment is complex, and if there was one correct way to solve this issue, I'm sure rather than argue about it polititians would take appropriate steps.
I don't like complaining about what young people do - it looks like no matter what they do it's wrong. there is no job for the uneducated neither those after studies. The best way to help young people is to make them aware of what professions there will be demand for. Moreover, allowing both young and old free education and requalification.
And in Poland (I don't know how is it in Spain) one of the best thing to do is to reduce the cost of employing people, so fewer of them will be employed in the shadow economy.

  2. I need to say I'm quite tired because all of this work/employment related blog posts.
I'll repeat myself again and again - there are jobs and if a person really wants to find a job than he/she will find it. Maybe it will mean relocation, maybe accepting low paid job or even maybe reeducating into new area.
However I fully agree that economic barriers are usually created by politicians. Increasing taxes, making bureaucracy more and more complicated definetely makes employers twice think if they want to create new positions for new employees or even what could be worse new companies could quite quickly bankrupt because of all of this different taxes.
I think that nowhere in the world people figure out ideal conditions for economy. In todays world where everything is so connected problems in one country influence markets in other parts of the globe. It's the world we live in now and we need to adjust, be flexible and react the best we can for market changes.

  4. Everywhere there are problems in one country higher in others less. The key to success is positive thinking and not giving up. At the present time there are no borders europe and it is also important that the work can be found in a country other than the one in which we grew up. Unfortunately, every time they are serious decisions, change of residence, the problems associated with maintaining a long distance relationship or the decision to move with his family to the other locations.

I assume that anyone who does not risk does not drink champagne - so you might want to do something and sometimes risk but provided that this risk is identified and we are mentally prepared for a negative scenario.

  5. I have to agree with Łukasz, again, if someone want to find job she/he will find it. As I said before the problem is in people not in the market.

So lets focus on the second question:
What do you think the Spanish government should do to change this situation?
NOTHING! Realy they should do nothing in Spain and Poland too! In my opinion they shouldn't change anything because in majority of cases they spoil everything.
Lets consider "trash contract" (umowa śmieciowa) some of my friends worry because now they employees will have to pay ZUS for them.* They are worried because they will be "not so cheap" and probably some of them lose their jobs or will get less money.

What do you think about this situation? Was it good move for people or only another try to rescue ZUS?

  6. First of all I think Poles wont stop complaining, as it is a national trait. Doesnt realy metter if in other country the unemployemnet is higer, because there is always one that would be better to live in.
As it was mentioned by other students this topic is very complex, thats for sure, but you can always try to find job. You can make some course, change somethings in life and also think positive.
In Poland I see many people that don't want to have a job and that is what should be changed - way they are thinking. If there is a household, where are two adults and only one of them works, because the other one doesn't care, that is the biggest problem.
How to change the way they act and make them working? Thats the bigger problem I see.

  7. I agree with Łukasz Zmywaczyk, who said that if someone really wants to find a job, he or she will find it. It is not always easy, but also it is not impossible. Surely, everyone wants to find their dream job, but unfortunately the reality is different and usually it is very hard to get it. Therefore, I believe that you should enjoy the job that you have.

Also, it seems to me that one of the main barriers in finding a job is one's laziness. Many people do not really want to find a job, and when they find it they will not give 100% at work.
