Week 10 [07.12-13.12.2015] Rain of Fire

Rain of fire

Recently the Russian activity against Syria became a real hot potatoe. On 31 October, when the Russian plane was shot down, a number of attacks increased as in this plane catastrophe 224 people died. ISIS emphasized the fact that they were responsible for this act of terror and they admitted that it was pure provocation of Russia.

A few days ago there appeared information that the Russians used a very strong chemical substance, which is called 'White Phosphorus' against ISIS. This kind of weapon is spread by the wind, so it is fatal in consequences. It can also cause water contamination. Victims die in a terrible pain. 'White phosphorus' is a substance, which cannot be put out by water. Many people burn alive. Not without a reason using weapons like this against people is considered to be inhumane. Most of the countries signed a convention which bans using this kind of weapon.

Russia is accused of misbehavior by some of the western countries. To what extent are people able to harm others in order to fight back?  Also, western countries still try to alleviate this problem without real actions, In their opinion, they simply don't let ISIS get away with it - with the fact that they took lives of innocent people. Much more humanitarian ways of fighting ISIS back used by countries that criticize the Russian actions don't seem to be as much effective as these controversial ones.

Does the events that currently take place are unavoidable?

Which way of fighting ISIS back should be continued - more effective or humanitarian one?

  1. From what I can see, we aim to third world war. The world is going from bad to worse and talking about 'White Phosphorus' only convince me about that.
"Which way of fighting ISIS back should be continued - more effective or humanitarian one?"
Weird question. According to me right away should be... humanitarian or not, people die. So they should give up.
Have they ever act humanitarian. It's a pity that our talking wouldn't change their actions. They won't start to respect others.

    1. Sorry... Now I understand the question.
You meant "fighting with ISIS" :)

  2. Russia is doing well. The terrorism is danger and definitely it’s necessary to answer by force. Muslims shouldn’t defend terrorist. Fact, that as a result of such operations can suffer the civilian population, but we shouldn’t forget, that attacks by terrorists are dispatched exclusively into the civilian population.

  3. I have no illusions that countries will solve it now. Their short-term aim should be achieve a truce. I'm not good informed about causes of ISIS warfare, but I'm convinced that current attacks will provide next attacks.

  4. It will become only worse because people underestimate Russia's power, while in fact Russia is currently one of the two strongest countries and when the problem arise, they'll definitely do everything they can to solve the conflict, which will include invading country if needed, while still telling everybody that they're "helping" them, because Russia is never bad, it's everybody else who is attacking them.

  6. I think that Russia and it's current president Vladimir Putin should definitely talking more about this situation and try to reach agreement in such a way as not killing hundreds of innocent people. The world is open to talks, but Russia often controversial politically motivated.

I thing it's probably a time for other countries to react in some way. If it's really Russia that used one of the illegal fighting methods (as Dann mentioned it is forbidded to use any kinds of chemical or disease war), there should be strong countermeasures used to stop it. Not only are these methods cruel, they also strike at the innocent civil people. Civils should never be punished for the war if they're not behaving like warriors.

Now it's ISIS and their civils but one day it can be our country that will get a hit. It's better to feel safe that to worry whether a cloud of White Phosphorus will appear tomorrow over Warsaw.

  8. The terrorists want to frightening people and make them sit tight.
They need to know that we can react and don't allow to do terrible thing, and hurt innocent people. The only way to fight with terrorism is by force.

I don't support Russian spreading 'White Phosphorus', but at least they react.

  9. I have mixed feelings. Chemical weapon is not humantiary. Dying by white phosphorus is a horrible kind of death. On the other hand, should we feel compassion for people who rape women and make cruel murders to innocent civilians?

  10. Nice hot topic. Russia... ah i can say many about this 'country', but in this case i would say that if you analyse this topic more closely you will understand that Russia in this war is the biggest 'terrorist'. Mostly they bombing territories where there isn't ISIS. But innocent peoples are.

  11. Personally, I have no opinion which weapons should be used in the armed conflict in Syria. On the one hand it is a fight against terrorism, on the other hand, innocent people are dying. Of course we have to resist this criminal organization - ISIS.

The amazing thing is the fact that the world has noticed the problem of ISIS so late. Is it a good thing to introduce the democracy to all countries? In addition, according to many media, ISIS is supported by many countries which are reaping the profits.

  12. I hate everytime people say bad things about Russia i think it's just to much saying that 'russia is aiming for the 3 world war' no, they are not. Here you have a small talk from Putin about America - I find it very wise : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KHCNk9BYy4
Putin is talking a lot about uniting about the problem of Syria, Isis. I don't really know what this attack was about, but it was stupid, there are a lot of innocent people for the love of god !
For your questions: I don't know what is unavoidable but the tensions are growing and it's bad, very bad. The actions should be humanitarian and more effective ;)

  13. Like @Oleksandr said, the biggest problem in ISIS - rest-of-the-World conflict is Russia. I have a feeling that the Russia is a grey eminence here, pulling the strings and is stoking each side of the conflict to it's benefit.

  14. War is in our nature, it cannot be avoided. War never changes, but we have to do everything to decrease unnesesary violence. It's sad but I think that there never be fully peaceful world.

  15. Russia in the entire history of its existence was looking for war and by Russia I mean its leaders. Killing by some kind of poison cloud is inhumane but it was always very hard to figth terrorism on their own territory.

  17. People are killing people for killing people. Same crap all over and over again, get over it. No there's no humane way of killing. As long as there are societies built around imaginary beings, we'll see those "holy wars" repeat themselves again and again. Or, to rephrase that - as long as morons are given any power - nothing will change.

  18. Well, yes, such measures are inhumane but it should be taken into account the only measure that ISIS takes are inhumane. This jihadist militant group’s aim is to kill anybody who doesn’t adhere to their disordered religious beliefs and I guess they’re so mentally ill that they can’t comprehend while the rest of the world condemns them. So, generally, I’m against such activity as Russia has recently taken but when it comes to fighting terrorism and muslim culture full of violence, as well as hatred and humiliation towards women, I’d welcome any means to weed it out from the world.

  19. We live in relatively safe and comfortable time. The longest time of peace in our history. War is just waiting to explode. I think that events that currently are taking place are unavoidable. They will be attacking and killing us, they won't stop. Fight fire with fire. We shouldn't hide behind pseudo-pacifist masks. We can, now, cause it doesn't affect us directly, I mean, terrorists attacks. But in the end, when it comes to face-to-face confrontation, I think nobody tells me that he wouldn't want to have resources to defend himself then.

  20. The mere thought of chemical weapons makes me shiver. I do not understand how people can come up with something so horrible and might want to use it in practice. I do not understand how you can put the life of one man over another. I do not believe that such a weapon could be used once, because the appetite grows with what it feeds on. As I wrote earlier - if something is to lead to the end of the world, this will be the people.

  21. Russia definitely should defend against Muslims, moreover, as any other country. Is Russia has chosen a good way? Not for me to judge, but to defend the citizens should be the top priority of the government of the State concerned.

I believe that ISIS is a plague, like any other terrorist group. A plague must be destroyed decisively and quickly, so my answer can only be one. If ordinary muslims defend ISIS it is possible that they will suffer the consequences.

  22. Too many political topics... I'm really bored about them, I don't know much about them and especially I don't want to immerse into that kind of topics...
