Week 8: [24.11 - 30.11.14] How to eat healthily?
Healthy eating has been getting more popular recently. There is a lot of food with ‘eco’ label, but
this kind of food is very expensive. Many people want to eat healthy, but they
have not enough money to hold such a diet. For example, spelled flour is
several times more expensive than wheat flour, however the price of spelt is
lower than the price of flour on the market.
A lot of
dieticians recommend products that are healthy for us and more expensive than
‘normal food’. Why is it so? Probably because healthy food need
special certificates and the production methods of this kind of food are very
expensive. However, do we need to buy food with special ‘eco’ label? I
do not think so.
On the
market there are a lot of products that are healthy without a special label. We
only need to just follow certain rules like the elimination of sugar
and saturated fats from our diet to be more healthy, drink a lot of water , eat
more vegetables, eliminate salt and also try to eat only unprocessed products.
There are
many materials online how to eat healthy.
You don’t have to buy food from special eco stands because adequate food
you can find in any grocery. It may be
cheaper than eating fast foods and food with unnecessary certificates.
Questions:
1. Do you pay attention to what you
eat?
2. What is your favorite healthy dish?

Week 8: [24.11 - 30.11.14] The November elections.
Last Sunday
in our beautiful country local elections were held. This day citizens chose
mayors, councilor and representatives of theirs local areas. Unfortunately, the
election turned out to be an embarrassing defeat.

The first
problem before the election day was the incorrectly created system of counting votes called “Kalkulator wyborczy”. The system is full of
errors, buggy and poorly protected. Everyone can log into the system and
make changes, because its author did not
protect the system against decompiling and the source code leaked into the
network. So complicated system was created in three months and
this time is not enough to create a good system.
The second
problem which, in my opinion, is more serious is the number of invalid votes.
It is strange that in some constituencies the number of invalid votes increased
to about 40 percent, e.g. in Wejherowo. It is almost one in two votes, while in other constituencies the number of invalid votes was only a few percent. A similar situation was during the in election in 2006 and 2010 when in
Mazowieckie the number of invalid votes was higher than in
the rest of the country. I do not think the people of Mazovia could not vote correctly. Janusz Korwin-Mikke from KNP filed
a notice to the prosecutor office that in those years the elections were
forged.

Questions:
Do you think that the unusual results in the Mazowieckie is a fortuity?
Do you think that you should look at the hands of politicians?

Week 7: [17.11 - 23.11.14] How do you understand patriotism?
How do you understand patriotism?
According to the latest event which was the National Independence Day I would like to
broach the topic of patriotism. Also because I think for many young people this term is very confusing and I would like to know your opinion about this.
wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriotyzm
The short definition in the Longman’s Dictionary of Contemporary English says, ‘patriotism is love to your country and willingness to defend it’.
And as you can see from the latest events, this definition is not the only one. It can have
many different meanings.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II#mediaviewer/File:Approaching_Omaha.jpg
For instance during the World War II the Germans were the bad ones. But we cannot say
that they weren’t patriots. They loved their country and nation and they were willing to fight
for it (of course I’m generalizing the situation).
wiadomosci24.pl/artykul/wyzwanie_tygodnia_udowodnij_ze_patriotyzm_jest_cool_249077.html
But now, our country doesn’t have any conflicts with neighbors and the term patriotism has, or I should say, should mean something different. For me, it always meant to remember the history, respect it, and even if something goes wrong in Poland to hope for the improvementand also to see how our country has changed, especially Warsaw, over the past 20 years. I honestly think it’s remarkable.
So, if we are at no war, than why do we have to have those outrageous things going on on the 11th of November. I seriously don’t understand it. Maybe some of you will be able to
make it more clear.

Summing up :
1. What is your definition of patriotism? How do you understand it?
2. What is going on the 11th of November in Warsaw? Why does it happen?

First image presents a wooden book holder. It's a perfect soultion when someone needs you in the middle of a book. You can put the book without damaging the spine or looking for a bookmark.
The second thing is also amazing - a clear book cover/holder. Great for outdoors so the wind doesn't blow your pages.
And the third one - a bookmark that will help you remember where you stopped reading.

Hot, iced, in various flavours. Tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world next to water. The creativeness in those tea infusers is great and gives extra fun making tea. I would really like to have one of those, would you?
PAPER CHESS SET

This is just brilliant. This set was released by the publishing house ‘Chronicle Books’.
You can take it everywhere and don’t worry that is too heavy. It’s relatively not too
expensive(15$). You simply punch out the pieces and play.
