  1. I think that we are manipulated all the time by big companies. We can see everywhere big adverts with colofull pictures screaming at us "BUY ME, YOU NEED ME, I MAKE YOU HAPPY !!!".
We buy some products because of our idols buy or have them. We want to owe the same things as they have. Celebrities love taking photo with products and post them on instagram or facebook because big pay them for that.
We can only protect ourselves from beeing targeted of such marketing. One way would be to keep your life in balanced.

  2. The problem of neuromarketing is not new. It is very sad that companies are so greedy that they have to use such techniques to became the leader of the market. As we know it is usually with products that are either very expensive or very unhealthy. Example of such companies are not only coca-cola and pepsi but also general motors, kodak or nestle.

I am trying to avoid all kinds of advertisements, but it is not possible to not being influenced at all. Many people are asking how many of of advertisement techniques can be found yet, is there anything else left? And how long we will live like that and what is next step? During e-business festival at our university was told that it won’t last longer then 2 years. Well… we will see.

  3. I don't think neuromarketing is some new, radical step; rather a natural continuation to marketing's previous techniques. Companies knew how advertisements influence our brain before the advanced equipment for neurobiological research became common.

Besides, it's only one of the consequences of our increased knowledge of out brains; and that knowledge, as such, is extremely precious and valuable. Perhaps some of you heard about cognitive science, which is a link between psychology and neurology. For me, it's amazing to think about all the inventions and the results of the research, how they improve our knowledge and help the humanity.

If the same area of research is used both in advertising AND science, I have nothing against it :)

  4. I think that we are not able to escape and completely avoid those clever messages sent to our brains many times during each day by commercials.
Living in capitalism requires some awareness not to get manipulated by companies trying to sell
    us their products.
I don't really perceive those techniques as "pure evil" unless they were to be used to target children (which probably happens. All commercials targeting children should be illegal. Other than that, it's just business.)

Quite interesting example of how people can be exploited by marketing experts is given by a documentary movie "Czeski sen". I can really recommend this film because it shows how professional advertising business works. No fMRI's were used in the campaign showed by the authors- rather simpler measurement tools like eye movement capturing etc. but those were extremely effective too.

It's good idea to know how our brain works and using this knowledge, because otherwise it would be useless. The other problem is fact how it would be used.
How we protect.. ehh it's hard and easy simultaneously. We should think, and it's the better way to protect ourselves to buy something. People go to shop for a milk. Finally they leave with full trolley but there aren't milk.
The companies can manipulate us by references to our emotions, beliefs, not for a long time. They only need to that time when we go to shop and buy their product.

  6. Do you think that discovering how our brain functions and using this knowledge is going in the right direction?
Such reasearch is quete usefull in marketing and development, but we are not certain about our future.
Will companies be able to manipulate our emotions with even bigger precision?
Look at advertising for women. What better croud control you could think of? Pure evel I'll say.
How can we protect ourselves from being targets of such marketing strategies?
Why in the god's name would I want to protect myself from such activities? No point. They're usefull.

  8. The sad thing is that the big companies use these techniques to encourage us to choose their products but this is a business and competition forces such actions.
I agreee with s9397 opinion that all commercials targeting children should be illegal. Children should not be manipulated by such ads.
On the other hand, the money spent on such actions increase our knowledge about the brain. This knowledge is very important because we do not know exactly how our brain works.

  9. I've seen the video included in this presentation. When I watched it second time it also impressed me. Marketing always have progress. We buy something because it has a nice package. We buy something because it is in the promotion. How many of those things we are really needed? I think that only a few.

For years, we are manipulated by products advertising. It is hard to tell when something is going in the right direction. Neuro marketing is progress because a lot of people stop to pay attention to the flashing advertising. Marketing need to find forms of advertising to which people pay attention.

  10. I think that marketing like any other area or branch has to expand. Buisness owners ofcourse make there way to manipulate us in 100% scale, after all thats how they earn money. I think that being secure from all thats happening in the marketing strategy the only way is to live on a island without poeple :D

  11. Customers should be aware of the manipulations in the marketing's world. But in some advanced cases (using our subconsciousness), this knowledge can't free ourselves from these practices. To tell the truth, we're slaves of marketing's tricks.

The result of experiment with two cokes makes me astonished. I thought Coca-Cola is better for everyone than Pepsi. I'll try to compare them someday. Maybe I'm one of unconscious consumer, that's interesting.

  12. I can agree with Marcin. Children are prone to this type of advertising and big companies can easily make that they want to buy something what they saw in commercials.
