These days it's considered something normal. People want to watch things like that because according to them they doesn't concern them. Whenever we encounter people fighting we prefer to stand idle and watch than to help resolve whatever conflict they have. So, in conclusion, I think that each and every one of us wants to watch things like that as long as none of that affects us personally.
In my opinion on these days people want to cross the borders, which couldn't be cross many years ago. Sometimes we can hear from older friends or our parents, what they didn't do and how they regret. At least we are forced by them to do, what we want. Without regret, without rules. But they never told us, when we cross the borders, there are not comming back or it is very very hard.
So if you let the people hurt or kill somebody and don't tell about consequences, they will do it.
People are curious too. We think that we saw many things thanks to TV and computer games. But we still believe we will see something new, maybe more controversial.
Of course we can't gerneralize all people. Volunteers want to find something new. They are more brave than other. What would do the people, who aren't that curious and i.e. don't watch TV shows?
If you will give to one person some domination over another, he will use it in way he like to, including causing pain. Best example is Stanford Prison Experiment:
And if we talk about, showing such things in TV, sex and violence are the easiest ways to catch people attention. Reprodruction and killing are corporate for carnivours mammals, which humans are. Such sceens in tv reefers to our basic instincts, and wether we like or not we can't supplant it. Controling them is what distinguish us from other animals.
One might find it sick, yet, people like to see others suffer or humiliated. Even though, shows like the French game are still not largely advertised, there are a lot of ridiculous shows on tv. For example, looking at the reality shows, people are willing to do anything just to be on tv.We see people make a fool out of themselves for a chance of stardom. Hopefully, most shows are done without the health risk factor in them and based more on making fun of participants. At least this is a case for now. If the shows like "Death Game" became our regular tv programme, I would lose the hope in human kind. It will the end of humanity for me. I am praying that this day never comes.
In my opinion the reason for people acting this way, I mean, taking part in that kind of entertainment is that they become bored with their everyday life. They need to experience something as much exciting as possible, mainly because they need to feel the adrenaline. What is more, common activities, that used to be entertaining, have become tedious and the only way to escape from the routine of everyday life is to experience something unusual. Something that could be a subject of people’s conversations. What is more, people who decide to take part in the games that are dangerous also because of the possible money that they could win. I think that in future people will be more and more willing to sacrifice their health and even life in order to get on an unforgettable adventure. This is the desire of excitement that grows in our minds. In my opinion, this is very harmful for the society and people should not get used to dangerous experiences by watching tv shows where the participants forget about the value of their lives.
This is very sad and bad... I have mentioned in some of my previous comment, that i do not have any TV so i don't watch it :) i didn't watch TV for years and so i am not a vitcitm of changing society's minds and when i hear someone talking about some tv show if it was a real life i am really confused, how these people cannot understand the simple rule. Everything what appears on the TV screen was planned and it has its scenario written. Nothing on the TV is a freestyle! producers give people instructions how to act or whatever... But the experiment only shows how people behave nowadays, no one can carry selfless help, no one can feel sympathy, no one smiles to other people with kindness, we all just want to grab as much as possible for ourselves, believing that other people do not have any value.
In my opinion, Stanford study did not seek to draw such conclusions from their research :). Scientists want to know the man and his greatest mystery - the brain. Many studies are often difficult to understand and that's why people see in them a human failings. Development of science is always two sides to the coin. Research can be used in good or bad faith. In the case of the French TV show I'm not convinced of it was bad. Media manages the other rights and not about them discussed here.
A total of yes and no in the subject I recommend a remote-controlled cockroach. This is the real manipulation of the living organism. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04T5Zq6KPyY&feature=player_embedded
I believe that what is described in this presentation is very shocking and ridiculous for me but unfortunately we live in a society of people with mental illness, people who can not cope with them or they are so rich and have everything and are looking for a sumptuous experience of life is so not turns as before. Unfortunately, people are becoming more and more strange, and have more and more strange tastes and types of entertainment. It scares me what kind of world we live in and what kind of people around us.
